Contents (from Preface):
"AIRCRAFT ENGINES OF THE WORLD, 1966/67 edition, now in its 22nd volume, is again on a biennial basis. Revised to the end of June, 1967, it covers all of 1966, and the first half of 1967 including the Paris Air Show. A great deal of information has accumulated during this period of time, and this is presented in the customary standardized page format in English and metric measurements, with specially selected photographs.
The Gas Turbines section of the book contains many new engines and new models of existing ones. Main engines include the Allison TF-41; Aveo Lycoming 155-11; General Electric GEL, GEA, TP-39; Pratt & Whitney JT3D-7, JT9D, JTF17, TF30; Bristol Siddeley Olympus 593, Pegasus 6, Viper 600; Rolls-Royce Spey 201, Trent, RB.172/T.260 Adour, RB.207; S.N.E.C.M.A. TF-306, M45-F, -G, -H; Turboméca Bastan 7, Oré-don 3; Hindustan Orpheus (reheat); Svenska RM.8; and U.S.S.R.
Auxiliary Power Units (A.P.U.'s) are represented by the latest products of AiResearch, Continental, Solar, Bristol Siddeley, Klockner-Humboldt-Deutz, M.A.N. TURBO, Microturbo, Rover, and Saurer.
The Reciprocating Engines section includes new powerplants of Avco Lycoming, Continental, Franklin, Czechoslovak, Hirth, and U.S.S.R. manufacture. Direct fuel injection, turbo-supercharging, and integral fan cooling are used on some of these engines.
A special feature is the presentation of U.S.S.R. engines. Standardized data and photographs of seven of the latest Isotov, Ivchenko, and Soloviev gas turbines, and of six of the latest Chvetsov, vchenko, and Vedeneev reciprocating engines, are included. Data of Klimov, Kuznetsov, and Mikulin gas turbines are also given.
Statistically, the 304 page 1966/67 edition of this international reference book contains 177 gas turbines (including 64 new ones), 73 reciprocating engines (13 new ones), data of 4 aircraft thrust augmentation rocketjets (1 new one), 4 tabulations of fuels and lubricating oils, two introductions mentioning the latest products of 48 engine manufacturers and major design teams in 15 countries, an index of 134 earlier engines and where to find them in previous editions, and a 3-page alphabetical index. The book is illustrated with 277 photographs, of which 148 are new.
Sincere thanks are again due to Eleanore Wilkinson - Associate Editor; Walter Swensen - Art Director; the Public Relations Departments and the Engineering Departments of many aircraft engine and equipment manufacturers all over the world; and the advertisers in the U.S.A., Canada, England and France whose valuable help has again made possible another edition of this book now referred to as the "bible" of the aircraft engine industry.
