Biographical / Historical
Robert "Bud" Cramer is a politician who represented Alabama's Fifth Congressional District for nine terms (1991-2009). Prior to his election as a Represenative, Cramer was both the Assistant District Attorney (1975-1980) and District Attorney (1985-1990) in Madison County. He also helped found the National Children's Advocacy Center. He was born in Huntsville in 1947, graduated from Alabama Law School in 1972, and serving in the U.S. Army in 1972 in active duty and in the reserves from 1976 to 1978. He co-founded the Blue Dog Coalition, a United States House of Representatives caucus of centrist Democrats, in 1995. Cramer retired from politics in 2008, and he has a research hall named after him at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH).

Collections are processed to a variety of levels, depending on the work necessary to make them usable, their perceived research value, the availability of staff, and competing priorities. The library attempts to provide a basic level of preservation and access for all collections as they are acquired and does more extensive processing of higher priority collections as time and resources permit.
